Overview
If an individual has undeclared income or gains and is out of time to file a tax return, they may wish to make a voluntary disclosure to HMRC.
The reason one might volunteer information is to reduce or avoid tax penalties and to avoid an HMRC enquiry which can be invasive, stressful and time consuming. The DDS gives individuals and companies a chance to bring their tax affairs up to date in a simple and straightforward way.
The DDS can be used by individuals and companies who have a disclosure to make about:
- Income Tax
- Capital Gains Tax
- National Insurance Contributions
- Corporation Tax
Examples include a business that has not declared all of its income or a business that’s trading and has not registered with HMRC for one or more taxes.
